Visitor Attraction Wi-Fi
Reliable WiFi for Visitors, Staff and the Systems That Keep Your Attraction Running
From museums and heritage sites to zoos, gardens and family attractions, reliable connectivity has become an important part of running a modern visitor destination.
But attractions aren’t always easy places to connect.
You may have multiple buildings, extensive outdoor areas, thick stone walls, listed structures or locations where running new cables simply isn’t practical. Add hundreds or thousands of visitors arriving with connected devices and the network needs to do considerably more than provide a good signal around reception.
Fusion WiFi designs and installs wireless infrastructure around the attraction itself, providing reliable connectivity where your visitors, staff and operational systems need it.
More Than Guest WiFi
Visitors may expect WiFi during their day out, particularly in locations where mobile coverage is poor. But the wireless network behind an attraction can be doing much more.
Reliable connectivity can support:
- Ticketing and admissions
- EPOS and card payment terminals
- Staff devices
- Cafés, restaurants and retail outlets
- CCTV and security systems
- Digital displays and interactive exhibits
- Event spaces
- Back-office and operational systems
- Guest WiFi
That makes the network an important part of the infrastructure behind the visitor experience, not simply an additional customer service.
Designed Around Your Attraction
A museum housed within one building presents a completely different challenge from a zoo covering hundreds of acres.
That’s why we don’t start with a standard package or a predetermined number of access points.
We start by understanding the site, how it’s used and where connectivity matters.
Fusion WiFi can survey your existing network and physical environment before designing a solution around your actual requirements.
Depending on the attraction, that can include:
- Wireless site surveys
- Network design and coverage planning
- Enterprise-grade indoor and outdoor access points
- Point-to-point wireless links
- Switching and network infrastructure
- Structured cabling where required
- Secure network configuration
- Installation and commissioning
- Testing and optimisation
- Ongoing monitoring and support
The result is a network designed around the attraction rather than technology simply being added wherever it’s easiest to install.
Getting WiFi Into Difficult Places
Visitor attractions can include some particularly challenging environments for wireless networks.
Historic buildings may have thick walls and restrictions on where equipment or cabling can be installed. Outdoor attractions may need connectivity across large distances. Other sites may have numerous separate buildings with limited network infrastructure between them.
There isn’t one answer that works everywhere.
Depending on the environment, we can use a combination of indoor and outdoor wireless equipment, physical network infrastructure and wireless links to extend connectivity into difficult-to-reach areas.
Where the building or landscape creates limitations, we’ll work around them rather than simply adding more access points and hoping for the best.
When Hundreds of Visitors Arrive at Once
Visitor numbers can change dramatically during the day, throughout the season or when you’re running a major event.
That’s important when designing WiFi.
A network that performs well before opening may behave very differently when hundreds of visitors arrive, each carrying one or more connected devices.
We consider both coverage and capacity, designing the network around expected visitor numbers and the services it needs to support.
That can be particularly important around entrances, cafés, event spaces and other areas where large numbers of people naturally congregate.
Connectivity Wherever You Take Payment
For many attractions, reliable connectivity is directly linked to revenue.
Ticket desks, cafés, gift shops, temporary kiosks and mobile payment terminals all depend on being able to communicate reliably with the systems behind them.
Extending the network into these locations can give staff greater flexibility while reducing reliance on inconsistent mobile coverage.
For attractions running seasonal events or temporary retail and catering locations, that flexibility can be especially useful.
Keep Public Access Separate From Operational Systems
Guest WiFi shouldn’t mean giving visitors access to the same network used by your staff, tills or operational technology.
We can securely separate different types of traffic while using the same underlying network infrastructure.
Guest access, staff devices, payment systems and other services can each be configured appropriately, helping maintain security without requiring completely separate physical networks throughout the attraction.
Use Guest WiFi to Engage Your Visitors
If you want to make more of your guest network, Social WiFi can be added as an optional layer.
Instead of simply displaying a password at reception, visitors can be presented with a branded login experience.
Depending on your requirements, this can support:
- Branded captive portals
- Visitor authentication
- Visitor analytics
- Customer feedback
- Event and attraction promotions
- Membership messaging
- Marketing integrations
- Repeat visitor insights
For attractions, this can turn guest WiFi into another useful touchpoint during the visitor journey.
The important bit is that the wireless infrastructure underneath it works reliably first.
Working With Existing Infrastructure
Not every project needs to start from scratch.
If your attraction already has a wireless network but you’re experiencing dead spots, poor performance or areas that have never been properly connected, we can assess what’s already there.
Some equipment may be perfectly usable.
We’ll identify what’s causing the problems and determine whether the best approach is to reconfigure, extend, upgrade or replace parts of the network.
That allows investment to be focused where it will make a genuine difference.
Planning New Exhibits, Buildings or Visitor Facilities?
Connectivity is much easier to incorporate before a new area opens than afterwards.
If you’re developing a new visitor centre, café, exhibition space, accommodation, event area or other facility, we can help plan the network infrastructure as part of the project.
Access point locations, cabling and network capacity can then be considered alongside the rest of the development rather than becoming a problem once construction is complete.
One Team From Survey to Support
Fusion WiFi can manage the complete wireless project.
We’ll assess the site, design the network, specify and supply the appropriate hardware, install and configure it and then test the completed system.
Once the network is live, we can continue to monitor and support it.
That gives you one team responsible for making the wireless network work, rather than having to coordinate different suppliers when something isn’t performing as it should.
What types of visitor attractions do you work with?
Our wireless solutions can be designed for museums, heritage sites, historic buildings, zoos, wildlife parks, gardens, theme and family attractions, galleries, leisure destinations and other visitor venues.
Can you provide WiFi across a large outdoor attraction?
Yes. Large outdoor sites require careful planning, but enterprise outdoor wireless equipment and, where appropriate, point-to-point links can be used to extend network connectivity across extensive areas.
Can WiFi be installed in historic or listed buildings?
Potentially, yes. Historic buildings can present additional challenges because of their construction and restrictions on installing equipment or cabling. We’d assess the building and work within the practical requirements of the site.
Can the network cope with large numbers of visitors?
Yes. Capacity is an important part of wireless network design. We consider expected visitor numbers, concentrations of people and likely device usage rather than designing solely around physical coverage.
Can the WiFi support our tills and payment terminals?
Yes. The network can support EPOS, payment terminals and other operational systems, with appropriate separation and security between different network users.
Can staff and visitors use the same infrastructure?
Yes. Separate wireless networks can operate over the same underlying infrastructure, allowing guest, staff and operational traffic to be managed independently.
Can you improve our existing WiFi?
Yes. We’ll assess the current network before recommending replacement. Existing infrastructure can often be retained where it’s still performing properly, with improvements concentrated on problem areas.
What if we can't install cabling everywhere?
Depending on the site, wireless links can be used to extend network connectivity between buildings or into areas where conventional cabling isn’t practical.
Do you provide Social WiFi?
Yes. Social WiFi can be added to provide branded guest access, visitor analytics and engagement functionality. It’s an optional addition to the underlying wireless network.
Do you provide ongoing support?
Yes. Fusion WiFi can provide ongoing monitoring, management and technical support following installation.
Make Connectivity Part of a Better Visitor Experience
